TSS 005 : Optimal fitness, Ripcurrents, Clean the spring

Build Your Body

What’s optimal for your body or your fitness might not be what’s best for your day to day life.

The goal is to find the overlap between what works best for your body and what you can actually stick to.

Most people fail not from a lack of doing the right things, but from a lack of doing the right things for them.

Don’t chase the latest trends. Find what works. Find what you can stick to. And do that over and over again.

Master Your Mind

The thing you keep holding onto might be the one thing holding you back.

If you’re stuck in a cycle, and you’re actually ready to get out of it, you need to understand it won’t be easy to just step out of.

Like a ripcurrent, you’ll have to put forth some effort to get out of it —like your life actually depends on it.

Because it does.

And like a ripcurrent, it might require you to do something different.

Because sometimes more effort in the wrong direction, or doing the same thing over and over, won’t get the result you want.

It will just leave you exhausted, overwhelemed, and stuck in the same spot.

Ask yourself…

What am I holding onto that needs to go?

Strengthen Your Spirit

Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. – James 3:11-12

When the question is posed this way, the answer seems obvious.

Of course not.

Yet we live our lives with an ‘on/off switch’ mentality.

We live our lives as if we can just choose to let salt water in one day and spring water in the next.

You can’t pick and choose the right actions based on how you’re feeling.

Sometimes good enough is not good enough.

Don’t deceive yourself into thinking good intentions are always good enough.

Clean the spring.
