Diluted Focus In Fitness = Diluted Results

Do you ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels with very little to show for it? I spent a lot of my first 15+ years working out from this place of diluted focus in my fitness.

Jumping from program to program.

From diet to diet.

Challenge to challenge.

  • I went paleo, carnivore, did multiple whole30’s
  • I ate 6 meals a day, I ate 1 meal a day
  • I tried 75 hard, a half mile of walking lunges every single day, and hybrid athlete training
  • I did crossfit, powerlifting, bodybuildling, and kettlebell training

Yet I was frustrated and falling short.

I felt like I was making some progress — but it was mostly an illusion.

When I faced the facts, I wasn’t doing anything but spinning my wheels.

The number on the scale and my body composition would see some short-term improvements.

But year over year I was about in the same spot.

I was spending hours at the gym each week — but something was missing.

You could sorta tell I worked out, but not the way I should look with how many hours of time and energy I was putting in every single month.

Some people will tell you, it’s all about consistency.

There’s certainly truth to that.

But there’s more to it, that most people don’t tell you about.

Here’s the real ‘secret’

It has to be focused consistency.
Consistency in the right things.
Because diluted focus in fitness will bring you diluted results.

And that’s where I lived for so many years.

I wanted to lose weight.
Then when I lost some weight, I wanted to put muscle on, so I would change directions.
I got impatient, would gain too much fat, only finding myself back trying to lose weight.

I thought more running, cardio, or workouts would help this.

I thought the answer was cutting carbs or just trying to eat less.

I thought the answer was intermittent fasting, putting butter in my coffee, or increasing my protein.

I had no system.
No frameworks to follow.
No direction.

And where my focus suffered, my results followed.

I’ve seen this in my fitness, my marriage, my business, and every area of my life.

Which is why I’m back to delivering emails that I believe can help serve you the best way I know how.

I let what I wanted to do get in the way of what I needed to do.

So as soon as I got bored, impatient, or distracted — I chased another way.

This felt like progress for a little bit, but here’s the scary part:

Chasing another way isn’t running towards a better way.
It’s running away from the path you need to take to get the results you desire.

Once I realized this, and started following the systems and frameworks, the same ones that I now teach to my clients — my body transformed — and seemingly overnight.

People started asking what I was doing differently.
They wanted to know what diet or workout program I was doing.
What was working so well.

I told them exactly what I’m telling you right now.

It’s not what I started doing, it’s all the things I stopped doing.

If you’re feeling frustrated and falling short, don’t chase a new program or diet.

Don’t put yourself through another unnecessary 75 hard.

Stay focused.
Stay the course.
And watch good things start to happen.
